Jim Stafford Takes His Comic Genius To The Addys!

Branson, MO - Jim Stafford, comedian and Branson theater owner, was the recipient of three Addys from the Springfield Ad Club. Stafford received a Gold Addy for his "Don't Be Chicken" radio ad, and a Silver Addy for his "Doctor What Do I Do" radio ad. The entire campaign, "Is It A Song or Is It a Radio Ad?", won another Silver Addy. Sponsored by the American Advertising Federation, the Addy Awards honor excellence in advertising and cultivate the highest creative standards in the industry.

Jim's radio campaign consisted of four 30-second spots, each opening with a unique genre of music. Each spot starts out just like a song and suddenly switches to a radio commercial. The element of surprising the listener was something Jim designed to create a sense of fun and heighten attention.

Jim says, "We wanted to play with our listeners and catch their attention in a way that hasn't been done before. So during the commercial we've created these little stories where the conclusion is - 'See Jim Stafford's Branson Show'!"

John Scroggins, Addy Co-Chairperson, said, "The judges laughed again and again at Jim's ads. Along with the element of surprise, they were impressed with Jim's use of his phone number. They found his ability to utilize the phone as a mnemonic tool to be both creative and extremely unique." Jim, long known for causing folks across America to sing his phone number, 417-335-8080, used this concept in his latest radio commercials by having the chorus sing, "See Jim Stafford's Branson Show, Call 335-8080!".

Ann Stafford shares a recent story about the memorability of their phone number. "This fall a U.S. soldier stationed in Germany call the box office. It turned out he was looking for another number in Branson and the only phone number he could remember was Jim Stafford's; so he called to ask for help."
